A fairly simple (daft?) question.

Where is the fuel filter located? The RAVE manual describes how to change (jack up vehicle etc) but as far as I can see, it doesn't say exactly where it is.

I had a quick look at the weekend & couldn't spot it - do you need to remove the fuel tank guard? I would expect the filter to be close to the tank.

The car is struggling under heavy accelleration - feels like fuel starvation & it seems like an obvious starting place.

Thanks,

Keith.

as far as i can remember, on my 95 4.0 se , the fuel filter is the round aluminium canister, underneath the drivers side back door, between the air tank and the rear axle

what year is it,as i found out with mine it,s part of the fuel pump sender unit assembly in the tank and mines a 2000 model.found this out after i spent 3 hours looking and gave up,when i came on here someone else had the same problem and passed this info on;)

I had this prob.. before finding out 2000 onwards is in the tank(part of the pump)if its before then most are right hand side about three fifths the way down from the front..

It is a 2000 x - guess that is maybe why I couldn't see it. Pump has already been changed & not fixed the problem - will try checking the MAF sensor -some posts here indicate that could be an issue.

The car started playing up after about 8hrs on the motorway - wasn't overheating or anything else obvious.

Thanks for your replies.

Cheers,

K.
