Can any of you blokes tell me what sort of fuel consumption I should be getting out of my 2004Td5Disco.

I have just replaced the fuel pressure regulator at the back of the head as it was leaking fuel out of the rear plug.

I have a slight surge down low that I didn't notice before.

I am getting 10km / litre around town.
Does that sound about right or is it a bit too lean?

If it is running lean will that do any damage to the engine?

Do I need to have the computer adjusted after fitting the regulator?

As we work in mpg here you will need to convert your figures to match.
No need to programme car for the new regulator.
Best bet would to be google td5 engine problems and work your way through the list, most are simple fixs such as the injector loom and the turbo wastegate seizing.
Worthwhile joing the doc as well some very knowledgable people on there

Only 22 mpg, but I do have the added weight of a winch, winch bumper, tree sliders, and diff guards.

25 mpg with full length Hannibal rack. Not much better on a long run and not much worse when towing.

10km/l is what I got on mine before i made it roll over and over and over...... good job Disco's are safe..... I now have a 130 TD5 and get 10km/l from it also, thats ov course as long as you keep it under 3000RPM, anything over that and she begins to get THIRSTY .... so i never go over 3000RPM anyhow as TD5's dont realy like it.... in my experiance anyhow.

gettin consistent 28mpg with hannibal rack and safari snorkel - no engine mods.

i get about 30 miles to the gallon, depends how you drive, if you race a td5 around it'll race through fuel. like most engines. I find that on the motorway my disco gets around 32, so long as i dont go above 65 mph. beyond that and the fuel economy slides right down... bit boring but it does make it more relaxing/quiet.. i think these cars suit wafting

28-30 mpg on my defender td5 with full external roll cage, tree sliders, steering guard and winch and bumper

Disco will return better mpg due to the higher gearing of the transfer box. Disco struggle to maintain speed whilst heavy towing on inclines though where a Defender will keep chugging along. Horses for courses.
