Took it on a big trek to the Lakes District so had a chance to top it out and see how far.
Got about 350 miles on a full tank... erm lets test me mental maths! about 29 MPG? But that was in a fully laden car with 4 people and a tonne of stuff for a weeks holiday, plus flooring it the whole way in my dinky 1.8 to keep up with the guy leading the convoy in his massive V8 4 litre Disco! If it was just me, or if I was driving at my own pace (Id be cruising at about 65-70 the whole way, rather than pushing 80) I expect Id have gotten a lot more.

post litres purchased instead of £cost ..
failing that .. how much was the price per litre

do this .. next time you brim-up
divide the amount of litres you put in by 4.54
that'll give you the amount of u.k. gallons
then divide the trip mileage by the number of gallons
just about every mobile phone and laptop/desktop computer includes a calculator ..
if your on the internet .. you've access to a calculator ..

Hi all.

Brimmed the tank and did 304mls. Cost £49.00 to fill again. Mixed motorway driving, from jams to 70mph.

£1.40 Ltr. With all the trimmings, Egr bypass etc. And always well serviced! Full Syth every 8,000mls as is every year.

I just got a massive 32mpg out of mine on a long run
That's my norm on a Mway run even with a Synergy, mind you if I kept close to the legal limit it would almost certainly be better.
Hi just broken my record 514 miles on 52Lts of diesel.....by my reconing this is
around 44.5 mpg
I am expecting further improvement have just fitted a huge intercooler ... this has made a big difference especially a light throttle......... I think this could improve things possible by 2 mpg ..... I will report.

I'm getting around 20mpg in my 1.8. Now I know they are quite thirsty but can anyone suggest (apart from a lighter right foot) anyway I can increase it. Car is a 2002 1.8 ES with 80k on the clock (30K on the new 2007 engine)
Tyres are fully inflated and roof rack still on.
Friend has just Px her Td5 Disco in for a 2009 BMW estate and is pulling 50+mpg...... I'm so jealous but love my hunk of metal!
Have to be honest and say that there's no way I can get more than 30 mpg and 35 mpg on a Mway run out of my TD4. Tried all the two stroke and synergy options but still can't achieve anywhere near what other members claim. I suppose if I stuck to 55 mph, which is the advice from the government, I could probably find an improvement, but how boring would that be

Just got my personal best 41.5mpg
And that's with problems with my fuel pressure and air flow sensors... Hopefully fixing these wont lower my mpg!

First tankfull on the TD4 manual returned 42mpg. My commute is 100 miles each way from Christchurch to Oxford, and in this time I did a bit of running around locally and performance testing too. Sat at 60-65 on motorway etc. 540 miles before chickened out and filled up. I use Diesel Rhino (triple dose on first tank, double second, then normal dose) which really helped on my VWs and allows use of supermarket cheapo fuels. I have three dodgy injectors but have done new MAF and Ronbox, EGR delete, cleaned out manifold etc, cleaned all plug contacts etc.
