My 300tdi has run for 8000 miles since I fitted it last Novemeber at an average of 29.7 MPG. That is a mix of commuting over Yorkshire hills and longer runs to the Dales and Western Scotland. We are running 265 Buckshot Mudders as well as a full Brownchurch up top,so I am well pleased with the conversion. It should have paid for itself by the end of the year against the V8 on LPG.

We are now back to Shell Fuelsave for the second time after reverting to Asda soup after the Scotland trip and what a difference it makes. The Asda stuff goes bang but only just. Shell fuel has a definite knock to it and you can feel the difference.

I agree about the Shell fuel, Best on the market. Figures are defo right at 372miles & 9.86 gallon. Will brim the tank again when i fill up next & post the results on here, see if it was just a glitch or just an economical little 90 :)
 
I use morissons "value" fuel at the mo :rolleyes: buy yer diesel, get money off shopping voucher and then buy veg oil in store to mix with
 
Swapped the wheels & tyres, now running Boost alloys with 265 Cooper st's, fuel now averaging 28-30mpg. Still happy with that though 
 
Yeh, I reset the trip, then fuelled to the brim, 372miles 44.99lt of Shell diesel.Not sure what to expect mpg wise. If 37mpg more economical than I expected. It is on road tyres though :frown: but not for much longer :)

Jesus, reckon he must be runnin on fairy dust!! ;-)

Thats more like it, a mate gets about the same from a tank too.

I've been a bit worried reading this thread seeing some of these rediculous high figures. Getting well into the 30's in a defender must take some serious grandad driving.

I average about 25mpg in my 300tdi 90 truck cab thats just normal driving cruising around 55mph with the odd bit of overtaking thrown in. Could it be that the aerodynamics of the truck cabs are considerably worse then that of hard tops that result in the terrible economy?

my 250 is a bit of greenlaning bit of motorway and a bit of normal roads,i dont drive slow but i dont go fast either! :D
 
I have no real idea what I was getting as my speedo don't work :-(
But it was never in the 30's more like early 20's
 
I am running 95% svo at the moment at around 80p a litre.

Compared to diesel I get over 50mpg out of a loaded 110 - not too shabby eh?
 
Maths is OK - Daisy does 28mpg in the winter and given I pay less than 60% of the cost using svo my diesel equivalent is a tad over 50mpg.
 
Also for the sake of accuracy I only now do distance driving in her and pretty gently - if I took ahalf the gear off that I have added over the years and road biased tyres I figure she could average on diesel over 30 mpg all year round but MTs, light bars, roof racks and a snorkel do not help.
