I encountered the old problem of diesel waxing on a loan 300 defender something I havent had in years , I added petrol (as you do ) at about 10-1 which should be about right. I was told that it was ok on older vehicles but not on newer ones ( common rail injection ) question is ,if you cant use petrol what else can go in to prevent waxing.
 
Its probably on summer diesel. The oil companies automatically add the appropriate anti-waxing stuff to DERV at various times of the year etc so its never normally a problem down to about -20 deg C. I don't know what the actual stuff is they add, but you can get it if needs be.

Are you in an area around or below -20? Could the fuel be old?

Diesel should last years and years, it's not like petrol which will go bad after standing for a while.

I think our derv in the UK is only protected against waxing down to -15 or thereabouts.

Its not about going off/stale, its because summer diesel doesn't have as much anti-waxing additive. If it was on last year's winter diesel.....etc
 
Why so?
Parafin is illegal as road fuel, costs more than petrol, and is harder to find these days. Gone are the self service parafin pumps where you could take a bucket along no questions asked.
Also illegal are: white spirit, heating oil, kerosene, avgas or avtar, and red diesel (unless you have good reason).
Don't use petrol!
Parrafins better.
