Well,
Did the thermometer out of the window test at 30 mph today. Went back for it and it had broken when it hit the road. Failed test....:doh:

Going to get a more robust thermometer and try again soon:D

Reminds me of the time when my indicators were bust and I asked my mate to put his hand through the window to indicate for me. F**k me the rest of the journey to the ER was cold without the side window.

Far from it, we have assertained that it is the actual outside temperature that will freeze yer diesel and it is not linked to the speed that you travel at.
So even if yer leave a lamp under all night then it will still freeze up on the way to work, not because of the wind chill factor but because its bloody cold. You could say that having only a small amount of fuel in the tank would be better because of the warming effect of the unused fuel returned to the tank from the pump.
The lamp idea is a good one as I leave a lamp under my sink in the garage to stop the pipes freezing, have done that for 20 yrs or more and never had a pipe freeze.
