Hi Guys,

long time since I been on here...been out the Land Rover games for a while...

anyways, got a Freelander 2 on a 13 plate...this morning the front wipers have stopped working, the squirter still works and the rear is fine. Nothing on any setting, intermittent, fast slow etc.

I’m not mechanical but don’t mind a little bit of poking around...

many ideas whet to check and where to check as a quick diagnosis?

I have a Bluetooth code reader so will try that aswell.

it worth disconnecting battery?

Wife’s popped out so will look later hopefully with your guidance! Cheers!

cheers in advance!

That's better. This forum has much better traffic, than the engine forum. ;)

First off, you need to check the fuses. You didn't say if it's a Facelift or late pre-facelift.

The electronics are slightly different between them, but unless it's a simple fuse, the next step is a diagnostic read, with a multi system reader. The FL2 is basically run by a software driven electrical system, so any faults will or should log a code, which points to the item that is at fault.

Thanks!

I think I have the facelift...it’s an SD4 Dynamic?

couple of updates....

I have disconnected the battery for 10mins. No change.

I have had somebody check every fuse and check the 2 wiper relays in the engine bay and all good.

Then randomly they started working again for a couple minutes then stopped for a bit and then started again....very strange....

I still need to get to the bottom of it...speaking to someone earlier they said could either be the stalk or the motor? Does this sound about right? They said to check if there is voltage at the wiper motor...so this is a job for tomorrow.
Thanks.

Sounds like the motor, which wouldn't be unheard-of. The stalks are more reliable than the motor too, which again would suggest the motor.
