how hard is it to change the front wiper mechanism on my Discovery 2 2002 TDi please
any help or point me in right way
its left hand drive dont know if makes it harder or easier

Take it, its a TD5.
Its quite easy, the hardest thing is trying to get the two side finishers back over the A pillar.
Give me a few minutes and I'll get the instructions from RAVE
 
I've done a few, easiest way I've found is take bonnet off, remove scuttle and your straight at it, I've never had to remove the a pillar finishers doing it that way which makes it easier especially as most I've done have had snorkels fitted
 
looking at the pics from Rave it looks the same as on my D1 which I done recently. When reassembling I used some baler twine under the rubber to pull it up to get the trim back underneath.

Although the motor was faulty it was it also burnt out the switch stalk......or may be it was the other way around!!
 
Thanks for all replies it starting clonking about two months ago and on Friday pouring down with rain they came up and stopped
So I ordered from paddock a new one
Took off the bonnet and it was do easy to do
Took off the plastic cowling to see the mechanism
Then notice 3 small bolts ,these are supposed to hold the motor
Got it all out ,could have repaired it but the hole wre now elongated ,is this common,,never had it on any other vehicle
So just got to wait for delivery to Bulgaria
Thanks for advice complete with motor on the machinist with rear wiper, and delivery 150 quid so that was ok
 
The bolts becoming partially loose is relatively common. Maybe they should have loctited or nylocs when new considering the oscillating forces on them.

I agree. If your wipers clonk then it will be loose bolts holding the motor housing to the plate.

I think its worthwile having the bonnet of anyway to check the top of the bulkhead for corrosion.
 
Replaced my front wiper assembly,it had rusted right through,on the actuating arms,found that a D1 is the same,but cheaper,the electical connectors are different though,easy way round it,chop of the connector on the wipermotor,crimp on female spade connectors,then plug each one into the D2 wiring loom socket,works great.
