Hi All,
I have a problem with the V8 discovery's front windows, they are opening when I switch the ignition on.
I have had the window ECU disconnected for a long time and reconnected it today and found this fault.
The V8 sits outside but no damp in the ECU.
I have done a search on here but could not find anything.
Any ideas?

Cheers Ian

Very strange.
Ideas, only to stop it happening until you do your tests and find out why, that is pull fuse 15 which will remove the ign. supply to the ECU although by doing that you won't have any Air Con until you reinstate the fuse.

Sounds like the relay on the control board has welded in the closed position. Have you tried disconnecting the window switch from the centre console to rule this out?

Thanks for replies/
I disconnected the switches and the windows are still lowering.
Disconnect the ECU/control box and all is OK except of course I cannot lower and raise the windows.
The ECU/control box got damp last year thru water coming in via the wiring, I dried it it out fully and it worked fine, but because it was getting damp this was the reason I disconnected it last year and left it that way until last week.
The box and the relays were removed to weld up the floor and firewall area.
has the ECU/control box slowly deteriorated in the mean time?.
I wish these boxes were a lot easier to get out from under the dash as I could use the 300tdi one to test.

If you can get it out again, I can't remember if the covers on the relays are easily removeable. You can sometimes open them up and release them. You'll provably find if its gotten wet that the relays are corroded together instead of welded together. But yes, changing the module is the easiest thing.

I usually take the front of the casing off and pull the board out on its own. Look up Disco 1 rear window board repair (this board suffers with dry joints on the rear window relays, quite common, you just resolder them usually)

The Black box does come apart, it happened accidentally when I was taking off the connectors so that's not a problem, ill look for the thread.
One of the yellow relays has something to do with the windows then? OK ill look that up in the manual.
Thanks for the help so far :)
