So after behaving itself and having its tyres, alternator and a full service i now find a metallic grating sound from the front passenger side wheel

I've rocked the wheel top and bottom and there is some play so i presuming the wheel hub assembly

Does this sound correct?

PS the Mrs now wants it gone but i am determined to fix/keep the M6 cruiser

Yeah pretty much the wheel bearing it comes complete as a hub just swop it out about 30 mins work including tea break

30 mins if you have power tools, 2 hours is a more realistic driveway repair time.

Don't do what I did. I replaced a noisy wheel bearing, which then allowed me to hear the noisy diff bearings instead, so I rebuilt that too.
