Hi guys just picked up a front wheel bearing from my local motor factors for my 1997 DSE.Question is the bearing received is 2 bearings part no FBK 133 wheel bearing kit rover W23068.I assumed it would have been a one piece bearing.Am I wrong in my assumption?
thanks
chris

Easier to get a used hub or maybe a recon hub. But pressing in these bearings sounds a serious biz!
Depends on how hot the old bearing has been. I left mine for sometime before I changed it,big mistake. I used a 60 ton press and things got a bit twitchy as the gauge went above 40. Don't forget to remove the circlip.

Did mine last week and ended up smashing the inside ring out then cutting the outer ring in a couple of places because the 400t bed press wouldn't budge it. Cut it gingerly to avoid scoring the hub and a good whack with LARGE hammer and out it dropped.

Ring these people: http://www.shop4autoparts.net/

They do the Timken bearing but they also do (did?!) a replacement hub with the Timken bearing for under £200. Very helpful and friendly on the phone. Part fitted to a 1998 GEMS with no issues and smooth as silk.

Had to chisel mine off....never saw such a mess. Bearings chewed up and unrecognizable. Was on my too do list. Next time it will become priority one. Parts are cheap and its an easy job... When the bearings aren't destroyed. Had the worst time even getting the wheel and brake drum off. Big hammers and a small hydraulic jack to push from the back.

Mine just dropped out on one side, had access to a 20t press, still wouldn't come out on the other side, had to get a hub with the baring, so have a baring left over now!!!
