going to change the front wheel bearings on a TD4 auto 5 door 53 facelift
can anyone recommend what bearings to get.
also anything I should know about or look out for.
not don't it before, but what the hell, we all start somewhere.
reading up on it from a Haynes manual.
so far on shopping list
2 new wheel bearings
2 new drive shaft nuts

It's unlikely you will be able to remove abs sensor without damaging it, therefore you will either have to work with it in situ and be very careful, and then hope the air gap is right when all rebuilt, or prepare to source new, also it's much easier to replace a rusted in sensor withe driveshaft and bearing removed.

thanks for the fast reply's.
don't know if I want to use britpart bearing seen some horror story's with them.
thinking of getting LR ones. hell if they have lasted this long,
use them again

That link isn't a Britpart, it's OEM. LR bearings undoubtedly good but is it worth paying 4-5x the price for a part that will outlast the car several times over? Just my thought on LR parts for older cars. Up to you.

You may find the splined shaft won't let go and you will not be able to swing the steering 'knuckle' to one side. You will need to remove the drive shaft ... as a complete assembly and use a seriously strong press to get the bits apart.

The replacement bearing/s will need to be pressed into place too.

The bearing will need a cir clip and another for the drive shaft too. Use WD40 on the ABS sensor and give it time to penetrate - it may work - twist and pull out...

Are the CV boots in good order?

maybe I am miss understanding the link.
it says "OEM QUALITY" on the page.
In my book "OEM QUALITY" is not "OEM" it may be as good as, but is not OEM.
also there is a photo of a bearing next to a box that has "BRITPART" on the box
so maybe I am seeing things that are not there.
I thank you for your help. But I am going to pass on this one.

thanks for the advice. one of the V boots has a split, ordered a new, that should be fun. I just will see how it go's

bearings,i only use timken,best you can buy and dont cost much more than cheap ****e,in assume you have access to a press

ok I got the bearings,
genuine LR "LR041425" nuts and clips.
Just one thing I want to ask is.
looking at the Bearing

I don't see how I can grease it.
So can someone who knows tell me . Is it a sealed unit and already greased?

What sort of ABS sensor is on it .I have a 53 reg v6 the ABS sensors are held in with a bolt . Look under the bonnet on the inner wing near the front if you see a long blue plug you have the plastic ABS sensors they will come out OK .

well what a b**ch of a job this is
finally got the old bearing bits off ( had to use an angle grinder on the bearing part on the hub, I think the heat and cutting down the thickness of the old bearing did it in the end) and the new bearing pressed in.
the lower ball joint nut was not coming off, don't think anyone has removed it in 10 years had to cut the ball joint, so changing the lower arm as well now.
so its
new bearings
new drop links
new brake discs and pads
didn't have plans for the weekend anyway.
put it back together tomorrow and start on the other side.
