A friend has just had the RH front tyre fail on his L322 diesel. Looking at it the inner edge is worn to the extent that the writing on the side has started to wear. The rest of the tyre is about 60/70% worn. Inspection showed the LH front is in a similar condition.
No indication of a tracking problem on the last MOT and I''ve never seen tyres wear quite like these unless the camber angle is wrong.
Now the questions. There are 2 seperate control arms, a straight one and a curved one. The inner bush on the curved arm seems incredibly soft and flexible, is this normal? The straight arm bushes are solid.
I can't find any play in the wheel bearings and as it's McPherson strut, I assume only the lower swivels could affect camber?
Any comments appreciated as I know little about the L322.:)

how's that possible:confused: driving on flat tyre

Usually just the bushes that cause this. Depending on the age of the car you might as well change all of the bushes while you are there.

Would try four wheel tracking first. Could have curbed it etc ! Tracking wouldn't show at an MOT would it??
Is it old and lots of miles? As stated new bushes would be ideal too.

Know little about L322, Datatek?

Most common reasons:-
Tyre pressure
Tracking
Weight on front axle
Moving steering wheel full lock stood still (ladies)
Bushes
Crap tyres
Or driving a X5 or Cayenne/Tourreq they eat tyres

I'd look at tracking first proper 4 wheel alignment mine took the outer edge off one of my fronts but the garage reckoned it was caused by the back being way out on one side and constantly steering to compensate , but both inners edges would normally point to them being toe out ??

+1 its your tracking ;)

Tracking didn't show up on the MOT tracking check and the wear is unusual in that it's just the very inner edge of both fronts, literally a 40/50mm band that extends into the side wall. Only ever seen anything like it on a track car running lots of negative camber.
I'd like to know how solid the rear wishbone inner bust should be, I can flex it easily with a short bar.
I'll try to get to it and post a photo over the weekend.
