as a person whos been pulled for tints. the only advice i can give is even if you know/think its legal the police will tell you they arent, but there is a cheaky way around it if you have the danglies to make a point, i did have only just illegal tints on a previous impreza and was pulled for anti-social driving,
(AKA being 21 in an impreza with ins and tax/mot completly legit)

when they measured the tints it said 65%

i argued that 65% was only 5% away and they quickly told me it was blocking 65% not letting through 65%. anyhows i then asked if the machine was callibrated that morning like i believe all of there measuring equipment has to be and i was sent on my happy little way with nothing but i suggest you pull them off when you get home, instead of the tear them off now and a fine like ive seen them do to so many friends.:D

they wouldn't have been only just illegal if they were blocking 65% then would they... its pretty easy to tell the difference between a 65% and a 35% tint!

Best thing to do is have the fronts done by a tinting specialist who has measuring equipment... get a receipt and if pulled you can say to the officer "mr x did it at mr x's tints and measured it for me... should all be legal officer here's the reciept"

Thats how i'd play it anyway!

i had it done by a tint specialist. and i was told they were one shade to dark and the figures he quoted me were only just. thats why i thought was letting through 65%, yer never no it might well have been letting through 65% and they trying to bull**** me...
on the more likley side i think it was a combination of aftermarket tints ontop of a factory tinted window. so would have come up illegal even if id had legal aftermarket put on

 of course a "legal tint" is gonna become illegal if you put it ontop of another tint... factory tint or not! it still makes it darker!

top tip for you guys, if your tinting i would advise putting some switched lights in the door cavity to 'inspect the winder mechanism' and accidently flick it on when they use the tint master if you get pulled :D

most window tint companys WILL NOT tint front glass, and if they do , they will tell you to keep your gob shut where you had it done.

Not only that, it's definitely dangerous driving at night, especially if you pull out of a side turning with no lamp posts nearby. I had mine on the front for three years, and it's very difficult to see, say a cyclist with no lights approaching. Was luckily never stopped, but mine must have been near the max allowance. So pulled them off a few months ago. What a difference it made. Glad I did it.

if a bike is riding at night on the road with no lights id hit them if i didnt have tints, its not like they are dark smoke ffs they are ultra light blue! some people just wanna moan all the time haha
