Hi Guys,
I'm new to series Landrovers and am working my way (slowly) around the various problems on my S2a. I need to change the front swivel seals and retainers, I would appreciate any advice on the simplest way to acomplish this.
I also have a question, the drivers side front brake linings recently became contaminated with oil (gear oil) , the swivel housing seemed to have more oil in it than should be, is it possible this could have come from the axle itself via a faulty seal? I guess I may need to change both the wheel bearing seal and the axle seal , can anyone confirm this?

Regards.

seals are 9.5 a penny so while yer in there just do it. although i'm a believe in 'if it ain't bust don't fix it' some times it makes more sense to change an inexpensive bit while you can get to it.;especially if you have reason to believe it might be gubbed. check yer bearings while yer at it, if it seems like they are *****d or nearly *****d then change them aswell

Whip yer wheel off then the brake drum and the bearings and rolling hub, out with the arfshaft and off with the backplate and stub axle. Undo and remove the six (I think) bolts that hold the flange to the housing. Then theres 6 bolts on the retaining ring with the seal behind.

Regards WP.
