Being inspired by 'Tom Sheppards Expedition Guide', I'm thinking about fitting a front 'rally type' roof vent scoop to my 110. Plenty are available on ebay, and I believe you use Austin Mini round dash vents on the inside. Question is has anybody done this? & how do you keep the water out?

Just wondering what for?

You could waterproof he seams but if your driving in heavy rain I expect it will fly in, unless you make a opening closing vent. Like on the dash

It's mainly for a trip to Morocco, the front vent flaps work well but was thinking, something higher up on your face would be good. Thinking of a retrofit safari roof as well.

You would be supprised how little water comes in when the vents are shut, the better designed roof vents have a water drain tube to, it would run down a door pillar easily enough...

How do you plan to stop the sand/dust etc going in your eyes and also all over the interior?

If it's on the roof it won't suck in much dust, that's why snorkels are that height. For bad conditions, as above: shut the vent! Metal mesh like the front bulkhead flaps would be a good add-on.

What about adding in a thin section of open cell foam to work like a very basic filter? Considering Morocco is a dusty place in general, it would allow you to use the vent far more often, albeit at the expense of slightly reduced airflow.
