I have the original prop-shaft fitted to my 1985 110, says FRC4799.

Want to get a replacement as there is a little play in the slider. Does anyone know if there are any other options? the only parts that seem to come up for a FRC4799 are LR parts at a large cost.

specs are:
Length 620mm +
20 deg
STD angle flanges 60mm spigot 50.8mm

Anyone know what other shafts would be a direct replacement?

There are plenty of companys around that will make you a propshaft if you give them the distance between the flanges, I did this with my 110 when I was running a lift kit. This worked out cheaper for me than buying a new shaft ready made for a land rover.

I would NOT recommend the cheap britpart propshafts, I fitted one of these (when I removed the lift) and by the time it was 12 month old I had replaced the both the UJ's and there was beginning to be play in the slider again.

I'm looking to get something off the shelf as it's easier and quicker. So after some searching....

FRC4799 is the original part from it's 1985 V8 chapter. Now it's a 300tdi with a R380.

The length from diff plate face to box face is 660mm,
The FRC4799 (fitted) is stated as 620mm
and the FRC8386 / TVB100610 which seems to be the one for 300tdi defenders with R380 says it's 604mm.

To me none of this makes sense - I know the shaft will slide, but how much? I would like to get a strong replacement off the shelf ASAP. Anyone give me any pointers? Afraid of spending the money and not making it fit.

Anyone know what I should do here, buy a prop that matches the length between the box and axle or the spec or the car?

Matching the length is the most important aspect of it, so you need to find one suitable length as a replacement.

I would not bother with a britpart one but do not know about bearmach
