Hi all. Fitting new props (1989 3.5 with BW transfer box).

In Haynes it says the splined section on the front prop must face the axle, and the one on the rear must face the transfer box. Both props facing forward basically.

My present front prop is the other way round, splines to gearbox.

I've spoken to a few people and the spread is fairly even which way round their front props are.

Anyone have a difinitive answer?

If you look at the picture in RAVE of the front suspension it shows the cat equiped front prop without the splines at the axle end, i.e splines go at the gearbox end. In the P38 the splines are definitely at the gearbox end. I can't imagine it making a huge difference except maybe that it stays cleaner the wat its meant to be but easier to grease if its the other way.
