Hi!

I have noticed that on full lock I occasionally get an unpleasant squeaky sound from the front axle somewhere. Having recently cleaned and painted the front radius arms and changed the radius arm bushes, I can now see an area where the nearside arm had a tyre scrub mark on it. I suspect the noise has been that scrubbing.

Any thoughts why this would happen? Is it tracking or something like swivels? The tyres and suspension are standard and there is no obvious abnormal tyre wear or play anywhere.

Thanks,

David

There are 2 different sizes of lock stops depending on which wheels were originally fitted - AFAIK the 18" ones needed the lock reducing otherwise they gave the problem you are describing.

ISTR you can adjust them.

Mine began to rub on nearside radious arm and when I checked there was excesive play in the swivel bearings:)

Well Land Rover thought they did.....

I think Ian has hit it on the head actually as I did a PAS box change maybe a year ago, that could be the cause!

Need a longer lockstop thn!
