Hi all just wondering i have 2.5dt p38 and wanted to put front fog lights on the bottom valance, saw some on flea bay but the add said they couldnt be fitted to p38 diesal, when i asked why the guy replied and said . that they effect the intercooler airflow and can do damage ,i have my doubts as the blanks are their anyway, any diesals out their with lower fog lights
thanks andy.

On 1 side of the lower valance should be a grill, with the other blanked (O/S i think). behind the grill is a small rad for cooling the gearbox oil (auto box). I have read other threads where lights have been fitted and then caused gearbox problems.

I personally wouldn't do it having read about the probs, but hey its your car

The answer may depend on whether or not you have a manual gearbox or auto. My P38 diesel is a manual and the gearbox cooler is in front of the main radiator (below the intercooler). As you say both apertures in the valence for foglights have blanks in them so I can't see that fitting foglights can have any effect on cooling a (manual) gearbox. Have you asked Land Rover - they should know! You may need some wiring loom as well.
Hope this helps,

As all above really.
Fog lights are a no no on Diesel auto models but OK on petrol auto models.
The gearbox oil cooler must be in a different place on petrol models.

Thanks for that, mine is also manual, and dont see what differance it can make
ANDY:confused:

 if you read what others have put then you will see the fog lights on a manual diesel are fine as there is no autobox cooler being interfered with.

Have you got the wiring loom already in place??? As you may need to order this as well if you dont have the loom pre-installed.
