Hi Guys, i need some help. I'm about to fit some front fog lamps (STC7809) to my Freelander 1.8 (2003). I'm a bit baffled as behind the blank switch where the new fog lamp switch will be fitted (above rear fog lamp switch) that there is already a connector plug with four wires fitted. What are these for? Can I utilise them for my fog light fit? Where does this wiring go? Also on the same note I notice from the haynes manual that the relay for the rear fog lamps is supposed to be in the main fuse panel under driver side , but I cant find it, nothing is easy hey.
Any help would be so much appreciated.

Regards

Mick

Many thanks for the reply, I've seen that diagram and info but i still need info relating to what the wiring that is connected to my blanking switch. If there is wiring there surely it must be there for a reason, The Haynes manual dosent mention it at all or where the rear fog light relay is located.

that switch is a blank for the cruise control, so the wiring must be unused in the loom.

hope this helps :)

Hi again Mick. The saga continues, I have just taken off that blanking switch and 'swung' through the red and black wires with a multimeter. They give 12 v when the light switch is made therefore indicating that whatever switch is fitted there must be related to the lighting curcuit (so it could be for front fog lights which would make sense) however the other two leads on the plug i havent got a clue where they go:confused:, i'm assuming they must go to a relay and that is what baffles me. What I would give for a decent schematic:(.

Kind regards

Mick

Hi rear fog lamp relay is in the Ccu attached to the main fuse board.

The 12v might be for the tell tale to show the system is active (like heated rear window switch)

Hi again Mick. Thanks for that, that explains why i can hear the relay making in the fuse box but can't pin point the relay. I have the fog lamp kit and hope to get it fitted over the weekend, I'll let you know how I get on. Thankls for all your help, much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Hi again Mick, got my fog lamps fitted and working, shame about the switch they supplied was it was a different colour to the others that were fitted, i got round it though by utilising the original blank switch cap and modifying it to fit the new switch. All done and looks really good, very pleased. I'll post some pics.

I recently had some fitted i managed to pick up a landrover wiring kit cheap on fleabay, it made the sparks life very easy wiring went to fog switch which came with it there was a pl,ug that plugged into the fuseboard and 4 wires x2 to each spot it was as easy as that cant remember if there was a relay in the kit of if it utilised one already in the fuse box..
