hi all
help required had an annoying knock a few months ago so changed track rods and drop links...the noise went for a short time and came back so purchased ARB bushings and took the car to the mechanic...picked the car up and he said its not them bushes
so kinda stuck
thanks in advance

Question!

Does it knock when you rock the car side to side, or when you bounce the nose straight up and down?

As a general rule;
Former = Anti roll component
Latter = more likely suspension, something like a top mount.

hi
thanks for reply but best way to describe this is the exact same noise as drop loinks and coming from the same area

You say a rattle not a knocking or thumping noise if that's the case have you checked the exhaust manifold heat shield as they have been known to break away from their mountings hence the rattle.
hope this helps.

hi slimboy
never thought o that one..it only rattles/knocks over small bumps/gravel type surface but no big knocking at all and seems to be coming from drivers footwell/bulkhead..will also have a look at the rear bushing on the wishbones although the mechanic says he went round them all with a bar...so a hunting i will go
thanks all for your posts

im on my second set of drop links in 12 month, (bearmach ****e!!!) first ones where bought second ones where warrenty, same with there flippin diff mounts, going to get some genuine ones now

could be your wishbones I had that knocking and that's what it was usually it is the bushes in them.

Yeah. see my thread on underbonnet rattles. In my case it was the coolant reservoir flopping about.

Open that bonnet and start wobbling stuff around till you get the right noise.

Then ramp it and start putting pressure on all suspension joints.
