ON HOLIDAY IN SPAIN - CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS ONE PLEASEEEEE...Went to lower the window and there was a horrible 'clunck' sound inside the door. Removed panel found the half moon cog lying there. I stripped out the entire window mechanism and found the 3 spot welds that should have been holding the half moon cog had failed. So drilled through half moon cog etc., and fitted 3 bolts to hold it all together - so far so good! refitted it into the door and tried the operation of window, it now goes about halfway up and stops, and downwards it wants to go too far. Tried resetting the half moon cog position in the electric motor drive cog - but this makes no difference. I'm really at a loss here, can ANYONE give advice, I looked through the forum - theres lots of info regarding problems with the electric windows but no one seems to have had this problem!!!! EKKKKKKK!!!

There are no devices such as microswitches for stopping the window going up or down on the window regulator, it's just wound up or down until it stops. I would say that somehow you've either re-assembled or refitted the regulator incorrectly or maybe one of your bolts is binding somewhere.
A new regulator isn't that expensive, 20 quid or so. There are plenty of pictures on the web where you can see how they should go together too, as well as loads of suppliers. They're all made of "rubber" steel so I wouldn't think that you'll find that much of a difference in quality no matter who you buy from.
You don't say which side you're having problems with, right or left but the part numbers for the right one is LR006373 and the left is LR006374.

What if you let the motor removed and you push the button to lift, does it run as long as you keep the button pushed no matter how long? ...if yes work on the mechanical side cos it's sticking at that middle position and the IDM cuts the motor's feed due to the extra load, improvise something to lift the window manually from where the motor should turn it untill it's fully up then fit the motor to the regulator if you can....it's too long time since i worked there and i can't remember well the whole setup

I have tried a dry run without the motor connected, and the regulator mechanism is very stiff, so I have decided to buy a new one from Paddocks, as you say they are quite cheap. In the meantime I have put it back together and wedged a piece of wood up against the window to keep it in place---top security ehh!
