Couldn't find a thread in the search. One of my other jobs is to change out the front drivers door top hinge.

Has anyone done this and got any advise?

Cleaned the headlights up this morning, was easier than I thought, cutting compound and water with elbow grease made them look like new.

This is one well pampered TD4, getting undersealed next week as well when the ramps finally turn up.
She will be so up together when I sell here..... not that the Mrs will be happy!!!

Don't know about the hinge - but I have learnt on here to be careful how you polish up and bring headlights looking new. I believe they may be coated in some form of UV protection and if you just 'grind' that layer away without something to replace it the light will just discolour quickly. Not sure exactly what's the score, just that it may be worth looking into it.

I do mine annually.

It's true that the polycarbonate is coated in a UV reducing material sprayed on in manufacturing. This comes off with age, which then causes yellowing of the outer layer of the polycarbonate. Cleaning off with an abrasive will need doing on a yearly basis, if clear headlights are needed.

It's very difficult to access the top hinge bolts, as they're up under the dash. It is possible, but you need to strip the fuse box out the way, unless you're double jointed.
