I have recently done some serious milage in North Yorkshire and the pads and discs on the front are showing signs of a need to replaced.
and in any case the Mot is in June
I note from Haynes that solid or ventilated discs are fitted.
But it does not advise if there are thickness difference or pad differences or even if the same calipers are used! Typical
The ones currently fitted are solid discs
Could I upgrade to ventilated with an appropriate set of new pads
Disco 1 1995 (April) 2.5TD (300tdi) ES.
Any advice would be appreciated

pads are the same ,but you cant fit ventilated discs without changing calipers or fitting spacers into calipers, you can get new ventilated calipers for £50 ish

I was under the impression that vented disks are wider than solid.

I think the callipers are the same, apart from a spacer added to make room for the extra width of the vented disk over that of the solid.

I converted mine to vented by fitting the discs and callipers from a 110 defender. Only other mod required was extending the pipes to make the job look pukker :D
