Nuts securing the big end bolts are spline on a 200TDi. You ever tried to get hold of a suitable (female) spline socket in Eastbourne on a Friday afternoon?
Not a pleasant experience, let me tell you...tracked down a set of those multi-fit sockets eventually about 10 miles out of town for the not inconsiderable sum of £35.
Every car except my fondly remembered Rover 827, which was a marvel of common sense engineering courtesy Mr Honda, has had at least one "funny" tool required...the Disco is no exception!
The 827 was a bl@@dy big lump in a not bl@@dy big engine bay though...changing the cambelt was an interesting way of getting back ache!!!

It has always been like that for me with british cars (quite tall). Thats why I always had wing nuts on my bonnet hinges...any work needs doing...off with the bonnet!!! ( especially my Mini!)
On my old Series 1, I would climb into the engine bay and sit there and do the work!!radicalrabit
