I either need to repair (someone has drilled and cut bits out of it) and then get it regalved or I can buy a new replacement bumper.
Bit wary of all replacement pattern parts which tend to be thinner, don't fit or just plain poor quality or a combination of all three.
Can't tell from online pics so does anyone know if any of the current crop of front bumpers are as solid and good quality as the originals?
If necessary I'll weld grind and regalv but it is just as cheap to buy another if they are just as good and save a pile of work.
Any opinions
 
Last aftermarket one I got was much too thin. Bought a scraper for the bumper, and military bumperettes. Much better stuff in it.
 
I got mine off he bay GDi products in 2014 no rust fits well into dumb irons got some D lifting shackles later fitted
Was £57 at the time
 
I bought mine a few years back from someone that was having a clear out due to loss of storage and it seems heavy enough. No idea where he got it from though.
 
May I suggest an auto jumble as they have started again recently. You should get an older s/hand one built to last!

If you look where I live the nearest one is about 7 hours drive away:(
It looks like pretty much what I was expecting, new pattern parts are normally not anywhere near as good as the originals, unless someone knows of a source of one. It looks like I'll be better just welding up and repairing my old one I think

Ah sorry, I missed that :(
 
i put a 6mm one on my Defender from Dixon Fabrication. Not sure if defender one fits series but may be worth contacting Dixon as the quality and strength are both superb
 
I had to replace the original on my 109 before it was twenty years old, due to rust. Low miles, but I have a suspicion it was used in salty conditions in its previous life at Derby council.
