Evenin all, I am getting a front bumper foc, but the problem is the heads have sheared off the bolts.

I got the stupid foam bull bar off, but that was due to rust.

I can see it looks like the bolts go through a long tubular (spacer) sort of thing and the whole shaft of the bolt looks rusted into place there so it ain't coming out.

I am able to remove the A/C condenser and headlamps, etc if anyone knows another way to get the bumper off?

Ta chaps :)

If the heads have sheared off, when you undo the clips in the wing it should drop down and slide out from memory.

That is certainly how the rear comes off. Would seem logical to have the front tethered in a similar way.

Thanks all, I did hope it would drop, but the bolts seem to have swelled up and the bumper simply will not move. I've tried levers, but only succeeded in bending the metalwork under the (removed) grille.

I would like to try and save the bumper, but all I really want it for is the updated fog lamps (which "should" have been fitted to my car as it's a September 2000 model). Mine are cracked and have the striped lenses, whereas these ones have the LR oval.

I suspect part of the bolt head is still there, time for a big drill.

Ha ha ha, very good chaps :D:D

I'll try Mr Grinder and see if I can't persuade the little Klingon barstool to come off.

I just wondered if there was a hidden key like in the crystal maze o_O

Thanks all. I'll let you know how I get on ;)

Hi ,Doo ,the bumper is attached to the crash cans which are bolted to the ends of the chassis with to bolts welded onto plates that slip through ,like spring hangers on an old ford, shackle,if you take rad ,,oil cooler,, inter cooler all out you will see them, then theirs just the spring clips under the wings ...Now doint quote me ,but the bolts that are used for bull bars are a different length from just bumper ones .... almost forgot the two plates under front grill..o_O

I'm trying to remember the set up Doo, but if you drill/grind the head off I think the length of the bolt will still prevent the bumper from sliding off the crash can. Good luck.

Ritchie & TC, thanks. I am able to get the rads out so I can get to the various fastenings with my grinder.

Right now though, I'm sat on my arse because my right knee is still howling & doc can't find anyone to help me with it until next week o_O

All this for a bloomin fog lamp :p

Drill them out. After that it is clips. Bang down and pull out. The fog lamp wires need disconnecting so you'll need to rest the bumper on something to do that before you drop it all the way.

I didn't think the bumper had to come off to do the spots, I certainly removed mine without disturbing the bumper.

The position the car is in (bump stops and grass) it is actually easier to remove the bumper from the top. The car was partially dismantled anyway and he said I could have the bumper. The genuine Land Rover spot lamps are off and in the process of being restored. But the fog lamps are hard to reach with the bumper in place.
