The front wipers on my p38 are not working so

I have disconnect the front wiper motor multi plug and hooked up a volatge tester and measured the voltage to the motor the voltage is fine so the motor has probably failed.

i just put the red bit on the plug connector of the motor and the black to the cars earth

BUT now the car will not start it just makes alot of clicks click click

it's not looking good have i shorted out the ( b.c.m. ) (c.b.m) (m.c.b.) !!!!!!!! thing!!!!! computer .

And i have now got a lot of warnings

GEARBOX OVRHEAT
GEARBOX FAULT
TRACTION FAILURE
ABS FAULT


need a bit of help with this one please

I had this problem when my battery would go flat, it would just click and the msg centre would state a lot of faults.
Have you drained the battery by any chance?

Hi

yes i think that i have drained the battery. It's not flat i have got all the dash lights on but it's just click click click

I have been on the phone with Seve Hill ' Seve Hill Land Rovers in Bristol'
and he pointed to the battery as well . I am now looking for a new
battery and wiper motor

Yep sounds like your battery is caput. Mine did the same.

Whilst your at it, source a new alternator aswell unless you have done so recently.

I upgraded mine from its original 80amp to 120amp. There are so many electrical goodies to run that it makes sense to do an upgrade.

Again, its improved the reliablity of my RR.

Hi all thank you for your help

alternator !!! how much where is it and can i do it D I Y lol
what's the best batt for it . is it that red top lol

wipers working one day and then not !!!! is it the motor or same think diff The back end is working ok and the front is washing but just no wipers .

Like most things for the p38 ebay is a good place to look as for the battery there is a thread all about the wonders of the battery! havnt read it myself 3 pages on battery talk is a bit much for me.

I think mine cost £80 from Island 4x4 ( I had a look on the website but I coudlnt find the one I bought, website mustnt have all inventory). I didnt fit it myself I got a garage to fit. Any Range Rover capable garage will fit it and at half the labour cost too!

Eg Dakar Cars (Dartford - DAKAR CARS) £50 per hour vs Official LR Dealer £80 per hour.
