Will try to post a piccy of my hubs tomoz.

BUT I have no means of locking them? Now did a downwards slope off road the other day, Low 4 wheel drive, not touching brakes etc, as i went down slope, rear wheels lost grip, and not holding from the front... very graceful slide to bottom of slope....

Does this mean that the hubs I have on my S3 are only 4wd when driving forwards, such as on an up slope??

Yer probly have to git out and turn the hubs to engage / dis-engage them.

Nothing on the hub turns, hence my need to post piccys, to see if anyone can tell me what sort of hubs they are...

They sound like the rare automatic ones i hadnt heard about them till i read an article about them in one of the land rover mags last year the guy couldnt get them to work!! Someone on here will know about them,

Take them off and service them / clean them (30 mins per side, easy job)
It should be obvious how they work then.
I think they are worth it because with them dis engaged i can reach 65 and with them in only 56.

Wasn't a big fan of FWH, in fact slagged em off pretty good here a month or so ago, always just left them engaged cause i hate having to drag myself out my seat.....BUT...dragged a bloody great heavy trailer 3 hours up the motorway and disengaged the hubs in desperation. Gave me about an extra 8-10 mph which meant I could actually get into 4th from time to time!!

I take it all back, FWH are FANTASTIC!
