I've just got an 04 freelander HSE. It has the becker traffic pro head unit, but finds no satellites. None at all.
Is this a problem other people have had or is it best to just let landrover sort it. It could be something simple like the gps receiver plug coming out of the back, but there is no easy way to check.

Does anyone know where the gps receiver is positioned in the car.

Any advice welcome.

I've had one do the same, pull the unit out and have a look at the gps antenna plug at the back, pull it out (VERY carefully) and check the plug, the pin in the middle is very fine and often gets bent if its not plugged in square, if its bent you can use a thin spike or similar to straighten it

Thanks, I'll give it a go in the morning. I was under the impression the dash had to come off to remove the stereo. Can it be done easily enough without dash removal.

u need someting about the same width as a tea spoon handle but has to be thin enough to go into slots at bottom of stereo, push in then pull head unit out

Thanks for the info. Just to confirm, its at the base you need to put the bits of metal in, not at the side.

yes u will see two slots at bottom of head unit, there on the face so u cant mistake them

u will see there is a thin black wire that goes to back of head unit, if that is plugged in then just take it to a dealer let them sort it out under warrenty

hi, ashley, did you get this problem sorted?

mine has just started to do the same..........i'm going to check the leads at the back in the morning.........

The problem was the head unit was broken. It was under warranty so it was fixed for free. Only problem was they installed a faulty head unit. Took over a week of them testing everything else before they realised it was the head unit again.
Not sure if this helps you, but if you have warranty left, I would let the dealer sort it. Replacement head units can be had second hand off ebay for a fraction of what land rover would charge.

bugger...........i was hoping it was a quick fix

i'm not even sure it is still in warrenty......i'll have to find out.
