Just 'bitter' or 'bitter and twisted'. Makes me wonder what i have let myself in for by buying one. Is it really that bad?
PX'ed my faithful reliable VW.:eek:

I think i have now come to terms with it and am just resigned.

to cut a long story short....
purchase of 2.5KV6 es-x hippoo - £6500.
cost of repairs in one year - £6500.
exchange price of Hippoo - £5000.
cost of Hippoo - £8000:eek:

oh - and yes it did have a full service history, and no i didnt thrash it and yes it was properly maintained:rolleyes:

total mileage in year 4057:eek::eek:

so how wud that stop the VCU seizing, the rear sub-frame attachment weld breaking, the leaking heater matrix, the prop shaft bearing going....... yu get the point?

and the TD4's have their own unique problems:(
yu ask Clutchdust about blowing the engine oil all over the road/garage/ etc;)

but the TD4 is the best of the bunch.

they do look nice:)

hi ya Minge - read the whole fred - yu will see i aint bein at it agin - it was in context of the faults on my hippoo, which may still have occurred even if the engine had been a TD4 - yu arent saying that those probs do not exist on TD4's are ya? You will also notice i asked him to talk to yu as the fount of all knowledge on td4 hippoos and oily hoses n stuff;)

There's a few former Gaylander owners on here who have had problems and have now converted to being Defender (Tratta) or Discovery owners.
MHM and I are particularly bitter and twisted about Gaylanders.
I had 2 and they were both piles of crap and money pits (fortunately not for me, but for LR Warranty Dept).
