First of all i would like to say hi all.

Bit bout myself and landys.Had a frlander1 for around 3-4 years (td4) and loved it,it did all i asked of it so as a hole very hapy with it.Only last week i chopped it in for a 2008 fl2 2.2 auto GS,must say i love the the thing, great drive with a lot more power if needed.
The problem i have is mpg (shhhhhite) to say the least and not happy,I always knew it wouldnt be as good as the fl1 bout thrt if i nursed it along with a very light right foot it shouldnt be all that bad but after running it for only a week its given me 24-25 to the gallon,
I would say that was 50/50 motoway and town driving(cc set at 60 on motor way just to see what i can get from it) as said not happy!
checked all tyre presures and there all fine
The car has done 50k full fsh no roof bars i never had it in sports mode,i would more say grandad mode if anything
Ive checked the mpg by working it out in the way you should but must say it worked out the meter on the dash tells me the same thing aswell.

Could any1 advise me on this.does it sound right or does it sound as tho theres a problem,if so what?

Been looking at the synigey 2 how ever you spell it lol,has any one tryed 1 on the fl2,if so how did you find it?

Many thanks for any advice given

Karl

BURN IT  fool !

It's a 2 tonne brick, powered by a 2.2L injun through an auto box! What do you expect ffs.

And don't tell me you believe the manufacturer's mpg figures!

Na pleased to say i do live in the real world and dont go by any manufacturer's mpg figures set by driving round and round a track at 56 mph never putting your foot any where near the brake pedel.there figures are the biggest load of b@@@@ks ever but how ever true under the above conditions no dawt.
Great shame there not true to life

I spent 20 od years in the motor trade (panel beating)so not so blind to the ins and outs of cars.
i just feel i should be getting more from this car than i am so thrt i would ask you guys what is a true to life figure,if im honest i was exspecting 30/32 with carfull driving and i would be happy at that but 23/25 i feel is heavy goin

Ok enough of the gaylander digs lads

I would say each to there own in all walks of life.

Would love a deffender and go green laning but comfort is more important and getting the kids from A to B is more important to me untill they grow up.

Thinking bout it i could maybe get the kids to push it along to boost the mpg lol

Has it been serviced recently? If the air filter and fuel filter etc are all clogged with **** and the oils fooked it will certainly have an impact. Just something to check yourself. Just take the air filter out and have a quick look. Check the colour of the oil on the dipstick. Black not being the preferable colour o.o. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of is that there might be something the matter with the engine control system (engine management computer) would need diagnostic running from a LR specialist.

It should be doing 32 ish, I can get 38 out of a manual driving like miss daisy

TBH i'm not sure if they have discs or drums at the back. Try having it checked by a proper mech, mine did that, being a manual 4wd i knew that slight slopes did not make sense on 2nd gear. had it checked and found that the brake shoes were stuck (handbrake was very hard to pull too)

Alternatively try the airflow meter. Our auto one had that same problem
