well all i can say on the 1.8 petrol freelander is.mine is a 2005 hse,all the toys etc,100,000 miles and it runs,drives perfectly.been looked after extremely well by previous owner/s.if i did not have my D2 as well i would be keeping it,it is that good.i care not a fig what others say,i am just telling others of my experience with mine.

what i cannot understand is,why mhm has got such a venemous streak against the freelander,ok R you got a crap one that either you could not be bothered to fix it correctly,or like f/l said it beat you?.you cannot accept that they are a good vehicle,yes they have their faults.tell me any vehicle that does not.you are always moaning that some threads are crap because they are the same thing over and over,well you need to take alook at what you keep repeating.now back to cake,cake and more cake.
Snot vennymouse. All cars have problems. Yu can get good & bad in all models, but I believe with Freelander, it's not just a q of bad luck, or a "Friday" car.
In the case of the Freelander it is poor design and poor build quality which inherently means you are looking to get the odd good one, not the other way round.
Don't kid yoself, go into Freelander ownership with yo eyes open and yu won't get any nasty surprises.

shurrup,the build quality on my f/l is better than the D2 by far,it does not leak,the fit and finish is better,it's very comfortable and has all the toys that all work as they were meant to,even the in built sat nav.leccy heated seats work,it runs fantastically,decent fuel economy.so what more can i ask for R??
