Have you done this before?

You are going to need a torque wrench that can give you 295 foot pounds to do the hub nut up again. You should replace the nut as a matter of course. Some good engineering tools such as a decent bench and vice and a good bearinig puller will be needed I suspect.

be careful not to damage the tip of the abs sensor which is exposed when shaft is withdrawn from bearing

hi all

im going to attempt to change my passenger side front wheel bearing at the weekend due to whirring noise,

I know this may sound strange (no pun intended) but could you describe the whine i.e. - did it clearly come from one corner or another and did the noise change pitch when cornering in the same way an average car wheel bearing would do?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to trace a noise and am trying to rule out possibilities...

thanks all for the feed back, much appreciated... THE CHAP.... the noise is a constant whining all the time whilst driving from the passenger front wheel, the cars due for new brakes so im going to replace the front pads and discs and rear shoes as the front discs are worn and maybe thats where the noise is coming from... process of elimination i think, but i intend on keeping the car for a while so im going to replace all round new brakes,

I am trying to work out where a noise from the front lh side (driver's side in Norway) is coming from. It can be heard only between 90 and 110 kph and only when the engine is pulling (when coasting it goes away). It sounds like gear noise (whirring/whining).
After pressure was raised in the rear tyres to 35 psi keeping 27 psi in the front ones it has become much better.
Something with the IRD or the gearbox, maybe?
