hi, i wonder if anyone can help me. I have recently developed a problem with my freelander, it is a TD4 GS model 2002 hardback. When i come to start it in the morning i get three warning lights come on, they are ABS/TC and hill descent, I also lose my speedo. Once i have got going the fault some times corrects itself and some times not at all, untill i have stopped the motor. It has been in the garage many times under warrenty and they keep saying that they can find no fault at all. please can anyone help, its driving me mad.

This could be wrong but apparently the wiring from the gear knob sometimes has problems (corrosion, chaffing etc) causing similar faults so i have heard
let me know, Graham

I have taken a good look at the wiring at the gear knob and it is all in perfect condition. since you replied it has been back to the garage again and they still say that they can not find anything wrong. its driving me mad.

Hi Guys,

I had the same fault many months ago, a full service that included a complete flush of the breaking system solved the prob. Apparently the brake fluid was boiling too quickly as it was old and this meant the system wasn't working, now it's perfect.

Worth a try.

Regards
Slippy

This clicking sound, could it be a relay? maybe for the abs, do you know if ya abs is working? try driving and stopping hard on a wet day preferably, obviously in a safe area! if you get the obligatory wheel vibration and brake pedal judder you know the abs is actually workin if it aint it could be an abs faulty relay?

good luck;)

Thanks for the advice everyone, but as to date nothing has worked yet. The abs works fine and all the wires seem to be connected. I have noticed that when this fault accures, a relay in the glove box dose not seem to click and i have no green hill decent light allumination. when it dose work the light stays on the length of the relay click. can anyone shed some light as to what this possible relay may be.

Thanks for the warning and also glad, for you, that you don't live in Belgium as your avatarname "apache" is used in a rather ambiguous way overhere.:) :)

thanks for your reply but my freelander is a 2002 02 modle, the way you are describing the problems they represent a old dti modle or a petrol engine. i cant see that on a car that is this young and has only done 20000 mile can have serious deffects like you describe.

Hello everyone again i was just wondering if any more of you had any ideas on this problem. It has seemed, to correct itself at the moment and touch wood everything is fine. I have read in my LR magazine last month that it could be a sensor fault on my wheels. Have any of you had this problem and it has been down to the sensors.

I have an issue with my HDC amber warning light beining continually on. I have checked the yellow switch and all seems ok. It has been mentioned to check the ABS sensor. Does anybody have experience of this sensor failing and how to get to it?

i have finally managed to get to the bottom of the problem. after many more visits and no joy from the garages i phoned landrover assitance up and complained. my car was taken back in by the garage and they had it for 2 weeks. They changed the abs ecu at no cost to me and the car is finally fixed. If anybody has experianced this problem when the car was still in warrenty and garages cant find the fault dont giveup keep trying being a pain dose work

Hi Guys

I Had a problem with the amber HD and TC fault lights on. It turned out to be wiring near the brake pedal. Might be worth checking that your brake lights are working.

Yes, and I think to remember that I read before that also a faulty bake pedal switch could cause this.

Hi Everyone,

I have the same problem with the same warning lights. Its only happened this evening, AND its a bank holiday! Just my luck!

They first came on as I went round an island so I'm hoping it could be a loose wire. Have tested the brakes and they seem fine.

They go off once the engine is stopped and re-started and only illuminate after I get to about 30mph.

What I need to know is, 'Is it safe to drive' or can I do more damage?????

Not very mechanically minded!!

hello everyone again i have another problem, my dashboard lights and my drivers side front and rear lights have stopped working. it happened when i disconnected my trailer. i have checked all the fuses and the bulbs and they are all ok. this is quite strange. Could anyone shed some light on this ha ha.
