Can't comment on the FL2 as I've only experienced one from the passenger seat but my TD4 Sport is the perfect compromise for me here in Spain. Fun to drive when pressing on and perfectly capable when the tarmac runs out.
 
I wonder what decision @currycowboy is going to make/ has made in respect to the F1 versus F2 decision? I don't get the feeling of a clear winner from the discussion. Which probably means that the decision should boil down to the car you prefer of the two, and the one that will cause you least pain to repair (which may then depend on whether you maintain it yourself, or get someone else to do it) :)
