Hi guys, my first post here. Already done some searching but people's descriptions are a bit vague so wanted to be more specific about my personal needs. So with much excitement, here we go...
I picked up at 56 (2006) plate Freelander TD4 diesal mk 1 in April 2015, this year. 94,000 miles on.

2 months ago (currently November) I noticed that in 4th gear, at 40mph (steady) going up a local long main road on an incline (nothing you wouldn't walk up yourself), I can feel a judder whereby the steering wheel is juddering and I can also feel is through the engine. (Think driving at 15mph over cobbles)
It has since been apparent that this also happens on the motorway accelerating between 60-70mph and then stops once you hit 70 and above (apparently***cough cough)
This only seems to happen when the engine is working for the car( ie accelerating or driving the car up hill).
If I put the clutch down, this issue immediately stops.
I have recently had two new front tyres added and full tracking done, hoping this would make things better. Unfortunately no change, not fixed.

I am currently booked in at the dealers for the end of the month. So worst case scenario I shall update with the final result.

I am just wondering if anyone else has specifics to what this issue is. Is it common? How it would be fixed? And any pricing with that.
 
I have a 57 plate Freelander 2. Had vibration problem at various speeds but more noise vibration than driving wheels. I'm no mechanic but upon investigation they found the cause to be the steering wheel airbag rattling against the bulkhead. Mechanics packed the offending item with cardboard - noise and vibration no more.
 
Ok guys, so here's the result...

Quick FYI; bought car from Evans Halshaw Runabouts with extended warranty. NEVER again. I wouldn't trust them to help my frail grand mother drowning face down in a shallow puddle if it was going to put them out. Like trying to get blood from a baked stone bought from the "we specialise in stones with no blood" shop. Do not buy anything from Evans Halshaw. To be on the safe side I am never buying anything from anyone called Evan.

Replaced fuel injector. And new drive shaft. This seems to have fixed everything.

The car was given to them 28/11/15. They had it ready and fixed 6/1/16. They didn't have a clue what they were doing, I had to call everyday to tell them where to look. At one point before they diagnosed the mechanical fails, they told me it was probably because I had different tyres on...."you mean my tyres are different sizes?". No, they meant 3 tyres said Michelin on the side and one said Pirelli. All same size and tread. They spent 2 days swapping all the tyres from a spare FL on to my e and testing. This made no difference. I was shocked to the core.

I finally got them to off load it to a 4x4 specialist. They sent it back the same morning and in 5 mins of having the car realised one of the front suspensions was broken. They had the car 28 days and hadn't noticed. Which suggests they sold the car to me that way. So they fixed that free of charge but still got the same issues. Long story short, they fixed my suspension for free and fitted a new clutch because the old one was worn and they had the car for just shy of 2 months. Warranty covered driveshaft. But I had to fork out for a new injector £700 (incl vat and labour).

Injector was broken and needed replacing....replaced made no difference. How long had my injector been broken?

Front suspension broken and the fools at Evans Halshaw couldn't see it after 28 days with their techs. The same guys who get cars ready for sale. How long has the suspension been broken?

This isn't the first run in I've had with them. The car is now 9 months old to me and has been in the shop for major work 3 times; starter motor, gear selector cables and as above. This is the first time I have been made good by the warranty (£200) as the rear diff was probably about £600.

If anything else goes, I'm going to my personal mechanic and after that Land Rover themselves so the job gets done right...just might need a bank loan.

Evans Halshaw can suck my Freelander exhaust pipe
 
Yes, it's surprising what some garages miss. You're much better off with an independent Land Rover specialist as they're usually enthusiasts and have some specific knowledge. There are a number people out there, including some main dealers, who respond to faults by replacing stuff until the fault goes away more by accident than judgement.
