Good Morning.

I need a bit of help. I need to replace my Freelander V6 ECM, Alarm Unit , any idea of where i could purchase the whole lot. Do i have to replace the Gearbox ECU when i replace my Engine ECM and alarm Unit.? Do i also have to purchase a new ignition unit and Keys? Heeelpp

You need the engine ECU and alarm ECU + keys iirc. I'm not sure about the remote fob. The gbox ECU should be ok to reuse. Ebay is a good place to look.

Hi of course it can be repaired - all that has been made by human, can be repaired by them as well, the only question is it worth doing it...I repaired dozens of them.. What year is your Freelander? Is it 2.5? You need to change parts that contain immobilizer function - ECU + immo box + keys. Gearbox control unit contains no immo data... Also after replacement you'll have to synchronize remote control...

Whats wrong with the ecu?

A coil wire from the ECU got grounded whilst the engine was running at speed. The ECU fuse blew so I believe a larger one was fitted :( this has probably blown the output stage would think.

Its a 2001 2.5i V6 . If the ECU is repaired do you still have to change alarm control unit key FOB etc ?

Depends what they do during the repair. If they know which signal is faulty and on what pin, they could trace the components used by following the copper tracks and replace the output parts only, sourced from an identical ECU. They may have drawings and parts lists which would make it easier.
