While you're here have you ever come across self undoing wheel nuts.

I recently swapped wheels around and rechecked the wheel nuts a week later, and on one wheel all the nuts were slack, so I obviously tightened them and a couple of days later three nuts were slack again.

water of life.. i had self undoing wheelnuts on an austin princess i once had. i found the self that was undoing them and i undid his nuts

I was going to guess at cognac.

No it's definitely self undoing! The first time I undid them I needed a 3 foot tube on the wheel brace they were that tight. I reckon the taper on the nut dosn't match the seating on the wheel 'cos they've been stressed to much so the two aren't "locking" together.

tight or rusted?? if them was rusty you could have problems getting them to stay tight again

Bit of both realy more tight than rusty. when I put them back on I used copper slip on the threads, but then I always have done since I had an XR3 (now theres a hairdressers car) and the ally wheels corroded that much I had to make a puller to get the wheels off the hubs.

I need some lubrication.
