Hi All,

Quick update, car is running well it’s still a little too Smokey at start up.. and on occasion doesn’t start first time.

Looking at the EGR bypass, I like the new part but someone mentioned you can simply blank off the current one and it looks OME from the engine bay….

Can anyone tell me what size disc you need and how it attaches to the current part?

Thanks

Paul

Just push a 4mm ball bearing into the vacuum hose to the EGR vacuum motor. Just be aware that this could be a fail for the MOT, as you're not allowed to tamper with emissions equipment now.

Hi Paul.
I/we at our meets 6 times a year change out the manifold, EGR and MAP sensor for clean ones, some stay with the original EGR some decided they want the gutted original bypass one which i use some alloy bar to block them off with.

It is no good really just changing out the EGR because the manifold will be full of gunk also.

I have been changing these out since 2011-12

Can I ask what you are using to clean the map sensor?

Electrical contact cleaner only, and don't poke anything into the hole of the MAP sensor, remember this is a MAP sensor not a MAF sensor any cleaning if a MAF sensor never ends up good, in my opinion.

Thanks. Every time I've looked at it is has crapped up. I need to keep the manifold cleaner.

Hi Guys,

I little delayed but I kindly took Arctic2 up on his offer and we swapped out the EGR, for the EGR delete, and the manifold and the MAP sensor at the end of March at Steve’s place….

Plenty of cuppas and good chat and we got the car sorted running report it does run better and more responsive but when you turn the engine off you get a noise from the solenoid all a bit confused….

I still do have trouble with the car not starting first time or slowly cutting out then it starts fine the next start up smokes a little but is running lovely….

I know when Steve ran his diagnostics on it we found there might be an issue with one of the injectors which I guess could be over fueling at start up….

Any advice what to try next would be great but really this was an overdue thank you to Arctic2 aka Steve 👍🏻
