Serge and Julian like to know, did you buy this without a Softtop hence the replacement from Ebay, where they get their supply of shampoo and conditioner. Was the rear door shut okay as this would interfere with and also there's a switch for the soft top that needs to activate I think. If you still have your keys and fob, try ensure the soft top fitted okay then ensure the door is closed correctly. With the key insert and turn right and hold to activate window to go up fully. With the fob keep your finger on open ensure the window goes down. If this works but the window not fitting correctly on closing you may need to reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins this will automatically drop the window on reconnection. Now you press the dash switch to calibrate. Hope this helps also Serge like to know would you like to book for a perm.

There's a safety sensor switch on the rear quarter panel (drivers side),
when the hard top / soft top is removed the rear window drops down into he door, the window can't activated by dash switch and rear wiper wont work either.
Undo the four clamps and re-position the soft top frame so it sits over/on top of the sensor

This....the hood isn't adjusted correctly.
The arm of the soft top has a small cam on the drivers side and this needs to press the little button (sensor) on the rear pillar drivers side for the rear window to work when the roof is closed. When its open the cam rotates away and releases the button to stop the window working. I guess its to prevent some numpty from closing the rear window when you are piling down the motorway with the hood open as I can see that not ending well.
Open your roof up and you should be able to see it. It's all adjustable. As a temporary fix to get out of trouble you can push a bit of plastic or folded up card between the two but I wouldn't recommend it as a permanent fix especially as it can be correctly fixed by 10-15 mins of adjusting. Once its set correctly you don't have to do it again but tape the cam in position if you take the hood off for winter. Nothings so annoying as getting the hood back on and realising the cam position has moved.

Did you know the rear drop window was nearly scrapped in the project CB40 trial days and then some LR designer came up with the 400milli second time delay for the rear window drop.
The elbow strut on the soft top should be factory set and not needing adjustment, even the commercials come factory set with two elbow stays on both L & R quarter panels for fitment of a soft top.
It is possible to misalign the hard top / soft top so it will miss the micro switch entirely, usually because of the top two clamps not completely centred
The OP'er hasn't even bothered to get back, do they even have the red key (or suitable alternative) for the top clamps, or metal clips for the elbow stays? .........after all it was purchased on evilBay !!
Yes I appreciate that you understand the set up but it appears the OP doesn't. I quoted you merely to highlight that your solution was likely the correct one and then tried to give the OP a bit more info to go on. My "This" statement was referring to the quoted text, not the "the hood isn't adjusted correctly" bit.
It was the cam position I was eluding to in terms of adjustment (as you doubtless know it slides backwards and forwards) but I agree if the top clamps aren't correctly centred and fixed then even adjusting the cam position may not help.
And CB40 trials, the Maestro on steroids!! I wonder if there are any of those prototype vehicles about still.
