Freelander TD4 Rear Window problem My tailgate window is lowering by about 3 mm, but you can pull the window down with your hand another inch.. when you shut the door it will raise up the full inch, but still only lower a few millimetres.
It is as if the cables have play in them. Is there any adjustments I can make?
I have done the calibrating procedure, removing the battery etc.
2001 softback 3 door commercial TD4
thanks in advance

I am having the same sort of problem if I have the window down with the engine running it goes up but if the engine if off it will only go up half way I have done all the calibration but to no avail any ides's chaps

Hi guys,

I don't know if this helps.

If your rear wiper is not working and is not parked properly (like mine is) then the the read window will not open from the switch on the dash.

This is becasue the car thinks that the wiper is in use.

Thanks

Hi Xant14, did you ever sort out the rear window problem, as I seem to have exactly the same problem. The window will not lower enough to open, but if you pull it, when the tailgate is closed the window shuts as it should. All the other operations on the window either from the switch or from the fob and key all work perfectly? Normally, I wouldn't be too bothered, but I have a Freelander commercial (old one 2000) bought to take my dogs out, and the tailgate window problem makes it all a bit difficult when getting my three big dogs out of it

Looks like you'll have to take the trim off and check the cables. If a cable has broken or the tensioner isn't operating then the window won't go down when opening the door.

Thank you Allan. The Cables seem fine, can't seem to find the tensioner, but put in an extra piece of plastic to put more tension on one of the cables and it is now working, but still cannot see why it stopped in the first place. If it goes again, I think I will replace the regulator

The motor operates for a set time. If there is slack in the cable then even if it just takes up the slack rather than move the window. The tesioner is an assembly with a spring around it on one of the cable entries to the motor.

my problem is when window right down and i use the switch to raise half way the window lowers itself
I have to raise window all the way up then edge the switch to lower a quarter
i have removed the fuses lately so not sure if i have upset the window switch mechanism
any help would be great

Your window is working correctly. You cannot stop the window on the way up. You must stop the window in the desired position on the way down.

fitted a new complete rear tailgate window to my td4 fitting was fairly straight forward no problems there but I cant seem to calibrate it I ve tried all the thing everyone suggests but to no avail when I use the switch in the car it goes up or down in stages ie press button moved 3 inches press button moves 3 inches again and so on till it all the way down or up
tailgate opens and window drops but when I close the tailgate it don't lift up and close it will close when I put the key in the door or use the button in the car also if I open and close the tailgate each time I do it the window drops a few inches
im at a loss as what to do next any help would be appreciated
also the rear windscreen wiper and the water squirter stopped working as well I ve checked the fuses there all ok
