Sorry , that was a ****ty reply , thanks for taking the time to reply . Just a bit ****ed off now as it's getting beyond a joke . Two months on and getting no where , does anyone know how these fu**ing things work ?

I think you've hit the nail on the head with that comment! I once had a 2001 TD4 with 60k miles when it started. Won't depress you with what I went through but after much expense inc. new high pressure pump and injectors (where two of which where seized in the head) I got rid before the head was cracked trying to extract them! I have damn good service people here who were equally p****ed off BUT not long ago I was talking to them again (they do the 300tdi for me) and they strongly believe that prev owner had put petrol in by error and run it - judged mainly by metal particles found in HP pump and injectors! I have a friend in Ford service who had three diesel fords in the same week where owner had pumped in the wrong stuff on the forecourt!

Have now got to a 1.8 petrol as wife is mad on FL's. At least I feel I can do something with it! (rightly or wrongly?????)

Anyway, keep us all posted will you and good luck - hopefully yours is something like a sensor fault.

Thanks guy's for the replies . To be fair my local garage are gutted they can't sought it , picked up the bill tonight and they havn't charged any labour or charged for the MAF . Filters and hoses needed doing anyway so the only part that was a waist was the fuel pump . When I spoke to the guy at Mcdonald Landrover ( their Freelander expert ) he seemed quite confident at sorting it out and did mention it could well be a sensor on the turbo but would know better after putting it on the diagnostic puter . The garage that have had it sadly lost the main man a few months ago (he died from a brain hemorrhage ) and they are missing his computer skills . Will let you know how I get on at Mcdonald Landrover , fingers crossed .

There are some good guys about and worth hanging on to when you find them. I had a look through a CD I had data on from TD4 days and foud this site - which I have revisited and printed below:

Range Rover EFi

Freelander all years EDC diesel pumps suffer from low fuel delivery, cause being,
malfunctioning internal IE valve (cheap fix) or worn main shaft (written off pump)
odds are about 50-50 either way. The Bosch /Rover EDC unit fitted to 200/400/600 diesels
from May 95 - May 00, and Freelander with L series diesel engines are now becoming a common failure.
This ECU is particularly susceptible to voltage spikes when jump starting.

May or may not be relevant. Intesting is that the EDC is causing problems in many other makes inc. Mini.

aup guys. had a new pump fitted to mine and she is running sweet now. sorry to hear that yours is still ****ing you off. wish i could transfer you some better luck m8. hope you get it sorted out though. let us know what happens regards jase.

Hi Guys.

Reading this with a bit of interest... what sort of airflow figures should I be seeing on the live data through the MAF? I can read it off via OBD, but i've no idea if my figures are "normal" !

Hi Rob,

Some figures from mine (although I do have a fault, this is with a brand new MAF), the figures are in Mg/fire, whatever that is!
Tickover 425 Mg/fire
2600 revs 508 Mg/fire
The higher figure was with the engine under load but as there's an engine fault it wasn't producing anything like the correct power.

Don't know if these will help or hinder you!

Sorted ! Boost presure solenoid was the bugger ! trouble started a couple of months ago with low power at low speed and then developd into loosing power at 70 . At the end limp mode was cutting in stopping the car doing over 50mph . When I first took it to the garage no faults were showing and after a bit of trial and error was getting no where . Tried a new guy and straight away boost presure fault came up ? not sure if it was because it was getting worse or different software . Anyway , sorted now and hope this will be of help to someone in the future , thanks for the replies chaps .
