ok guys and gals, i got a 51 plate Td4, there is a sump protection plate on it, it appears once i have removed the two bolts at the back of the plastic plate i still cant remove it, after investigation and loadsa swearing i found 4 alluminium rivets? cumon, do i have to drill them out to get at the sump to change the oil and oil filter? is it not a simple process? HELP PLEASE (got haynes manual but its not even covered in that)

The plastic bit is attached to a aluminium frame by rivets do not drill out. If it's the same as mine there are four bolts holding the aluminium frame to the front sub frame and four under the front of the bump/skirt.

If that makes sense!!

OMG, Talk about making things easy, ok guys thanks so much for that, good job i waited before getting the bloody drill out lol cheers
 
Took me as long to remove the sump guard as it did to do the oil and filter change with the number of bolts it is held on with.
