When I run my hand over all the pipes that’s only one that feels oily underneath and soft in comparison to the rest of the pipe and other pipes in the engine bay. Just doesn’t seem to be 100%. I’m picking up the part tomorrow and will change it the see how it goes over the next week and see if it makes a different. Looks a very awkward angle to do the clips but I may be surprised! Fingers crossedIts odd. One FL has had two replaced by me, the other that I am now running is well old and on the original
I cant telly you how hard that one is to replace, but why do you think its that that has gone?
Fair comment! Makes complete sense, Just didn’t want to spend all the money on the silicone set to end up not being the issue and having to spend more money on a new remedy!
I’ve discovered I was wrong it’s actually the hose running from the intercooler to the manifold! Found a 50mm split in it, taking the wrong hose back and getting it changed for the correct one tomorrow!Yes., Its odd that mine failed twice in 5 years. But the garage that did it the first time I nearly sued.
For fitting a brand new disk to a seized calliper.
So nice knowing it’s so easily fixed especially something I can do myself easily! (And I’ve never done any work with cars before but Land Rover seem to be giant Lego sets ) Hate taking cars to garages and getting ripped off! The Land Rover specialist near me (brookwells) are literally amazing! Well priced and when I contacted them this afternoon to say I’ve bought the wrong pipe they have reserved me the correct one and I can just go and swap them tomorrow! Couldn’t have asked for better service!Yes. Its always good when you can actually definitively eliminate uncertainty and say 'yes that part is borked, and a new one will fix it!'
I had a failing fuel pump for ages, that I used to fix by slamming the rear offside door. But of course I didn't want to take it to a garage whilst it was still working
Dear old hippo got trailered in when it finally wouldn't resurrect itself.

Yeah I had realised it was in an impossible position I had planned on cutting it and putting the new one in a more sensible position so if it needs adjusting in the future I can! It's not actually an easy fix, but a fix it will be. You'll have to cut the clip off the intercooler end, as they are normally impossible to undo from above. You'll need a new clip on reassembly, making sure you orientate the worm drive to a place where you can get to it.
Also make sure you put a bit of an anti-clockwise twist in the hose, too keep it off the bolt on the front of the inlet manifold.Yeah I had realised it was in an impossible position I had planned on cutting it and putting the new one in a more sensible position so if it needs adjusting in the future I can!
Good idea! Was thinking of a way of stopping this happen again! Also make sure you put a bit of an anti-clockwise twist in the hose, too keep it off the bolt on the front of the inlet manifold.
Cut a piece of the old hose up, to use as a superficial wearing surface, between the hose and bolt. Use tape to fix it to the hose.Good idea! Was thinking of a way of stopping this happen again!
Can anyone recommend some kinda of protection aside from moving it out the way?
Brilliant Cheers!Cut a piece of the old hose up, to use as a superficial wearing surface, between the hose and bolt. Use tape to fix it to the hose.
New hose is on, just finished drove it to make sure all was good and I could hear something, came back home and could see flecks of oil in the engine bay to realise I had over tighten the engine cover and snapped the thread, so the drive chain can be seen. Please tell me there’s a solution!Did the new hose work for ya?
Everything seems to run fine and it’s driving fine but oil is being flicked everywhere in the engine as it comes off the chainNew hose is on, just finished drove it to make sure all was good and I could hear something, came back home and could see flecks of oil in the engine bay to realise I had over tighten the engine cover and snapped the thread, so the drive chain can be seen. The bolt thread that as snapped has fallen in the engine bay somewhere and I cannot find it for the life of me! Any chance you know where I can source a cam cover? Some sort of chemical metal or epoxy glue is the only fix for that. Otherwise you'll need to replace the came cover assembly.
