Well - on mine - when I got it the filter was bad - I replaced it with the standard filter and noticed that if I ran the engine with the oil filler cap loose it fluttered for a moment then got sucked on hard due to the vacuum in the engine. My leaks immediately diminished. Later I fitted the cyclone mod - but leaving the filler cap loose it continued to flutter and never got sucked down hard - so I'm with Nodge on this to a degree. I think the crankcase evacuation is better with a nice clean filter - but in the longer term the cyclone keeps working better - My engine leaks are virtually non-existant now and - praise the pigs - my Landy is allowed on the drive 'cos it dinna leak!!!The vortex assembly was used after problems started with clogged filters in M47 powered BMWs. The vortex can't clog in normal circumstances, so is better in that respect. It doesn't make huge amount of difference if a small amount of oil mist gets into the combustion chamber. There could be a potential for some oil loss, but in the Freelander it's probably minimal.
See how you find it and report back. You never know, you might convince me to do the mod to mine
Looks good. I did the exact same painting session in August.Managed to get some painting done, still need to do the rear sub frame and diff. But no point till fuel cradle, diff seals and mounts have been done.
Brake drums, back plates, shocks, and tie bars.
Front calipers, shocks, lower arms and tie bars.
Tow bar, front and rear towing eyes.

Great result, hoping to do the same myself sometime soon. Interesting the peak power and torque is at 3.3k rpm then tails off quickly. I can see on my boost gauge that boost pressure drops at a similar rpm and wasn't sure if that was normal or not.

Am I looking at the wrong line? I thought it had dropped to 100 at 4500 rpm.It's nice that the Bhp stays around the 130 mark right up to 4500 Rpm. My TD4 is well off peak power by then. Looks like I'll have to invest in a remap at some point in the future. I think some intake trunking mods and larger intercooler would be helpful too.

That's even betterrer than I realised then.Haha, I just noticed that too.....the bhp line is really faint, dark line is torque. His printer was running really low on colour ink.
I was thinking about the intercooler but drives really well. So will probably leave it.
Was a good price too, £195. Worth every penny.
