Hi,

Just looking for some more help if possible please?

I have replaced the rear tailgate window regulator as when i got the vehicle the old cable was snapped. The window will only go up in stages of around 2 inches at a time, no beeps going up but 4 beeps each time you press the down button and eventually after about 6/7 presses of the button the window is down.

Any ideas what the issue could be? I have tried the callibration but this doesn't have an effect. When reconnecting the battery the window still goes down only the 2 inches.

I know everything works as yesterday the window went all the way down and up without any beeps or stops. Im wondering if it is a sensor issue?

Also, the rear wiper and rear heated window button does not work. I have checked all connections and cannot see any breaks in the wires and have also checked the fuses.

Any help would be great,
Cheers,
Danny

The rear wiper and heated window won't work if it thinks the rear door is open.

Micro switch faulty or broken wiring at a wild guess.

If it is in the door handle, there is like a solenoid relay type clicking noise that happens when the door opens.

Heated rest window and rear wiper won't work if the car thinks the glass isn't at the top.

Based on the fact the window doesn't fully drop when the battery is disconnected and reconnected I susepct there's an issue with your cabling/regulator

Could it be my battery? The negative cable came loose last night and car lost power, if the connection wasn't tight enough could that cause the window issue?

If the car lost electrical power and then reconnected the back window would drop down.

When you reconnect the battery the tailgate glass should drop completely ...did it do this?

Theres been a few people with your issue ...and the answer has been to swap the regulator because the limit switch inside the motor was playing up ...could you swap the motor with your old motor?

But first check that the rear wiper is in the park position ....off the glass and on the rubber strip at the bottom - if its not then this will cause problems

The glass can be adjusted ...check that its centered ok - not scraping along on one side and also the pressure of the glass on the seals can be adjusted too...Ive never had to do this but others on here have ..just search ;)

The heated rear window and rear wiper wont operate until you manage to calibrate the tailgate glass.

Just had the same issues on my landy, it started with glass not dropping when trying to open the boot door ( moved it manually then it closed back up itself when shut, this worked for couple of days then the beeping started and would not do anything and replacment of the regulator cured the problem as mentioned previous regulator has sensors within and the wiper etc will not work as it thinks window is in the open position.

Thanks for all the help.

I have stripped the regulator out of the window today, adjusted so that it is only just applying pressure to the window seal, applied silicone spray lubricant to mechanism and cables.

Still when i connect the battery i get the window dropping down an inch or 2 and the 4 beeps when i press the down button.

Do you think it could be a faulty window regulator?

When the cable had snapped on the previous regulator the window mechanism would make sounds of going up and down without making the beeps.

I got the replacement part from Ribble Valley 4x4. Land Rover spare parts - Land Rover Parts

Okay so weirdly this morning i started the car up and the heated window, wipers etc on the rear window were all working, window would go up and down no problem. I tried a little lateron and it was still working, then the window went all the way down and when i pressed the button for it to go up it went up about 4 inches, stopped and went back down by itself. Now im back to the start where it will go up 2 inches at a time and when i press the down button it does down 2 inches and beeps 4 times.

any ideas please?

Okay so i am still having an issue, after adjusting the screws on the regulator the window occassionally works. By working, i mean the wiper works and the heated window works. Sometimes when i press the handle the door opens, sometimes the window just comes down 2 inches at a time and the door does not open. What can also happen is the window will just go all the way down and when i try to close the window it goes up 2 inches and then back down by itself, the only way i can get the window to close then is to disconnect the battery.

Does anyone have any idea what i should replace first?

On my freelander the 4 beeps were caused as 1 of the tiny springs was broken in the handle, and I think this caused an incorrect action on the micro-switch.

(the micro-switch did sound like it was operating, and felt ok, but no window drop and door would not open)

As a temporary fix, I stretched the spring and bent the end (to make a new hook) and reattached it.

Now the handle has a much more positive feel, but more importantly the door opens.

if you keep the open button on your remote pressed does the back window open fully then? and then put the key in the lock on the back door turn and the window should go up with the key turned all the time. does it do this if so I suspect you could have a fault with the switch on the dash.

you jhould be able to close the rear window using the key in the tailgate lock - turn clockwise and hold...
