Just bought a 2l TD Freelander for spares and it's got this riveted under the bonnet ?

Now I know what the special vehicles unit is and do but there's nothing special about this freelander ??

Spelling mistake?
Should be ' Spackle vehicle' hehe!
I think you can/could buy them off eBay?

Is it a commercial or does it have anything different? Anniversary model? What year is it?

It's not a commercial, it's a 1999 with the Rover diesel lump, it has a nice trim inside, foam bull bar with spots and fog lights, half leather and half suede seats nice car actualy.
Bought it for scrap as the IRD was flooked (makeing a right racket). I have taken the props and visco off and the old girl drives like a dream. What are the chances of the IRD still going BANG ?

You got a photo of the whole car?

Could be a Millenium edition of I've spotted the colour right on the plate photo

It's exactly the same as this one I've just found on t'net !

It can still go bang, but most of the time the problems with the ird are caused whilst 4x4 is connected. So running it front wheel drive only will reduce some of the stress which cracks them. Putting all of the drive through the front wheels may put additional pressure on certain parts, but that's part of the pro's/con's of driving it mondo. The only thing you can do is hope it's ok. If yer worry about it too much it will get to yer.

Cheers matey ! The wife has been running her TD4 in mondo mode for the last 6 years without any problems but her's had a good IRD !

The one I'm rebuilding is a Special Vehicle.... but a 2003-53plate - 2owners from new... but the mileage is almost "starship" mileage...
