Hi all, new to this group, new to Land Rover ownership. I've bought a 1999 Freelander XEDi. as a project. Off to a great start as the bonnet won't open. The lever and cable within the cabin look intact, but when i pull the lever back it doesn't seem to do anything, maybe the cable has stretched, is there anyway around this?
Thanks all.

Try getting a helper to push the bonnet down, while pulling the lever.
So had two attempts, one with someone pushing down on the bonnet and one with someone pulling up the bonnet and it remains closed, it doesn't want to play!

Is it possible to grip the cable just after the lever in the cab with a pliers and pull to open it?
Or, is it possible to remove the lever from it's fixing and pull it hard?

Cheers Dog-man, got in behind the lever and used a good amount of brute force to pull it open. Success!! I've now dosed the bonnet realse in the engine bay with a healthy amount of WD40. After all that when I went to start the engine the rear window came down but the battery didn't have enough in it to start the engine. Thankfully it had enough power to bring the rear window balb up though!!

The window automatically comes down when you connect the battery.

You have to raise it again to calibrate it.
